Company Overview ebizchem Inc. is the world's largest global Internet
exchange for chemicals and plastics. It provides the only real-time
window on the entire market for all types of chemicals and plastics,
enabling companies to convert product needs, surpluses and shortages
into instant trading offers that reach a global market.
Every
day, buyers and sellers of petrochemicals, plastics and polymers,
basic industrial chemicals, fine and specialty chemicals, pharmaceuticals,
and agrochemical from around the world, meet online, in real time,
to conduct business. ebizchem brings together three user communities:
suppliers of chemicals and plastics, buyers who use chemicals
and plastics in manufacturing operations, and intermediaries who
assist clients in buying and selling chemicals and plastics.
More
people from more companies around the world are using the World
Chemical Exchange. In fact, many of our members use it daily.
They've learned through experience it's just a better way to buy
and sell. Members of the World Chemical Exchange gain access to
new markets, profit from reduced transaction costs, and obtain
up-to-the-minute market information. Members find trading partners,
negotiate pricing, and complete transactions efficiently and effectively.
Along
with real-time access to supply and demand information, ebizchem
offers extensive online information resources, including a daily
news wire service, a monthly newsletter about e-commerce, coverage
of industry events, and a reference library. ebizchem also offers
My ebizchem, a personalized home page where you can monitor the
World Chemical Exchange and industry market activity. Founded
in 1995 by John Beasley and Jay Hall, ebizchem's first offering
was an online suppliers directory. In 1997, they expanded the
services to include online transactions between buyers and sellers.
In
1997, John and Jay joined forces with Patrick van der Valk, founder
of BetaCyte, to expand the company's services. Key to this expansion
was the ebizchem Classifieds, an online bulletin board where users
placed ads to buy and sell chemicals. Billions of dollars of chemical
transactions were hosted through the Classifieds. Its success
spurred the development of the World Chemical Exchange, which
debuted in July 1999. Today, the World Chemical Exchange hosts
transactions between thousands of members and companies in over
103 countries. In early 1999, the company relocated to San Francisco.
Today, ebizchem has more than 100 employees with offices in San
Francisco, Houston, Philadelphia, London, and Singapore.
